Hasselblad upgrade
So, I know the Hasselblad is still new (to me), but, I found an upgrade that I really needed to do. My 500c/m still had the original focusing screen in it. Which, having not ever used one before was ok, and I was able to see through it to what I was shooting, but, sometimes I felt that it was hard to find the focus correctly. So I went looking, and found myself a split-ring/microprism focusing screen. Well, this also sort of necessitated me moving to the Accute-Matte screen. Man, it is night and day difference. As I pulled the new (to me) screen out of the shipping package, and set it on the desk next to the old one, I could see instantly that it was going to be a worth-while upgrade. Next to the new screen, the old one looks like a piece of frosted glass. Adding in the split-ring, and more importantly the microprism, and I should be able to get precise focus pretty quickly soon. I am still not as used to the camera as I would like to be, but, I am getting better, and I really do enjoy shooting with it. Now I just need to get over my timiddity with the camera. I took it to a Halloween party, and I got a couple of good photos, but, it was dark, and having to use the light meter for pretty much every shot is tough. I really do like the waist-level viewfinder on it though, and am starting to get used to the reversed image. I may consider trying to pickup a Kiev Prism viewfinder with a meter in it eventually. I am not 100% sold on that idea, because it will add a lot of bulk to the camera, which is already pretty big. But, it would be nice to have a TTL light meter. I will have to see, either way, it will probably wait until I have shot another 50 rolls through the camera as it is.
