I got a temporary reprieve

I got to come home around 8 tonight, and I don't have a scheduled time to go back in tomorrow, which is good news. The rationale is that I opted for the phone call support position, meaning that I am not in the office for a set shift, so if anyone gets overwhelmed, or something breaks catastrophically, I am the go to person for that. Which is ok, they have my cell numbers, and it means that I don't have to specifically be in the office between midnight and 7, which is a time I don't necessarily work well.
As everything stands now, the hurricane is bearing down on my family who are staying put at their houses. They were all around for Alicia, and probably Carla, so I am not too concerned about them. I know they can take care of themselves. On Kelly's side, I have mixed feelings, but I am not going to go too deep into that here, we have already had that discussion, and we are in agreement. Here in the Greater Austin Area, we are expecting 30-45 mph winds, with gusts up to about 60 mph, and somewhere between 1-2 inches of rain. Thats not really too bad, and I am not that worried about that either. I thought about it after the news show this evening, but I kind of wished I had an opportunity to grab a photo as it was an awesome spectacle. We preempted the 6pm Nightly News with our own hurricane coverage, meaning instead of 2 half hour shows we did one 1.5 hour show. This was an event on its own, and was interesting to watch from inside the sub-control booth, which I don't know if I have ever been in during a broadcast. Anyway, if I am in the midst of it tomorrow I will try to remember to snap a quick photo.
Oh, and I think I am off to look at a bike tomorrow. There was a Kawasaki on craigslist that was in the right price range for me, and the guy emailed back about it, so I will see. It doesn't look to be a great bike, but it looks to be a decent bike at a decent price for a starter. I probably wouldn't ride it for years, as its 20ish years old, but if I could ride it for 2-3 years thats not bad.
