On becoming an artist
In studying art all your life, you get to the point where you just accept that it will always be a part of your life. And when it ceases to be part of your everyday life it is like a breath of fresh air. The problem however is that eventually that fresh air become the norm without you noticing it.
Unfortunately this is something I know from experience. Luckily though I have continuously told myself that I am going to get back into producing art, and I just recently got a kick in the butt from a most unexpected person. I was minding my own business, and I got a myspace friend request from someone who I haven’t seen in almost ten years, and to be uninentionally rude, someone I probably haven’t thought about in as long. In looking at Julie’s website I noticed that she was producing paintings, which then concatenated with my living with Crystal, who creates all the time. It was enough to jumpstart me into gear, and I went and got some copper plates and a metal rod to scratch them with. This will be the start of some Drypointing. I have even started the drawings that I want to print. I hope to be finished with the layout by the end of next week, and then the drypointing a month after that with luck.
